Artist

Brenda Tassava studied fine arts at the Ohio State University. Her first job out of school was as a neon sign designer in the Short North neighborhood of Columbus, OH. It wasn’t long before she became a mother, after which her career path took a few twists and turns landing her in the veterinary profession for more than 20 years.

Always maintaining a small home art studio, Brenda has remained determined never to abandon her art. Her roots in drawing and painting evolved to a love for mixed media through years of experimentation. In 2003, after moving to Indianapolis, she began studying at the Indianapolis Art Center where she fell in love with woodcut printmaking. A few years later, she discovered encaustic painting through Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch. Encaustics became a passion, as it brought everything together – mixed media, painting, drawing, printmaking, and so much more.

Now a resident of New Orleans, Brenda has expanded her studio and is producing artwork on a regular basis. In 2017, she became a Certified Zentangle Teacher.  Her current focus includes 2D and 3D work, using mixed media, ink and encaustic painting techniques.
